Summer Solstice

Today is the official start of summer. It is the longest day and shortest night of the year. The kids are finishing school and weekends are busy with fun outdoor activities. With the sun lasting well into the evening hours, each evening is an opportunity to take advantage of local parks, dining outdoors and a quick trip to a local ice cream shop.

We are lucky to have 4 distinct seasons here in the Hudson Valley. As spring turns to summer each year we are reminded of the beauty and history unique to this region. The various festivals, concerts, sporting events and scenic attractions all make for a one of a kind summer adventure right here in our own backyard. Families can create a summer bucket list that includes activities everyone will enjoy. Some ideas are: try 5 different ice cream shops, go to 3 different farmers markets, spend a day walking a trail and an evening at Walkway Over the Hudson, visit an art gallery, search for the best pizza in your town and check out and read a few books from your local library.
