The Hudson River

Henry Hudson was looking for a quick passage to China in 1609 when he discovered the river that would be named after him. The Hudson River has been an integral part of New York history. From the roles it has played in travel, war and industry to the beautiful views it provides the grand estates lining its shores, the river is a highlight of the Hudson Valley.

The Hudson River has many activities to make any season special but it comes alive this time of year. The Walkway Over the Hudson has opportunities to walk the bridge at night, there are many trails and paths along its banks and if you are avid boater the marinas provide for a relaxing day of fishing or leisure. There are also cruises that provide tours to see all the sights.

Whether you enjoy kayaking, canoeing, rafting or tubing. You won’t be disappointed. Relax on a local beach, swim, and be sure to stop in some wonderful towns along the way. A day trip or overnight at a local bed and breakfast make the river a perfect getaway.
